Musante GW-835; Baker-236B; Raymond-275b, Abler-410. Struck in white metal with a plain edge. 40 mm. Obv: Right-facing bust of Washington with 1775 - 100 YEARS - 1875 in an arc above. Identified as being a product of George Hampden Lovett and Isaac F. Wood below. Surrounding this in a frosted, raised circle at the rim is THE LOVER OF PEACE / FOR THE COLONIES' BIRTHRIGHT / HE ESPOUSED THE SWORD. Rev: Building and large tree are central with THE WASHINGTON / ELM / ISAAC F. WOOD'S SERIES "C" NO 4 below. In an outer ring at the rim, CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS, JUNE THIRD 1875 / CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION. Surfaces are proof-like (although not designated on the insert as such) with light silver-gray toning. A small area below Washington's bust exhibits darker toning and/or a disturbance to the proof-like field.
